Sometimes, life is more important than sports. Often, we need not-so-subtle reminders of this fact, like hurricane Katrina.
The Astrodome, a much hated sports venue, will become home for thousands of people, probably for months.

My favorite season
Fall, by far, is my favorite time of year. I enjoy the changing colors of the trees. The crisp evenings, when you need to grab a jacket if you plan on being out til sunset or later.
But the appeal of fall is not just crisp air and leaves. It's sports.
Baseball is finally getting interesting. Football at all levels is starting. The NBA rosters are starting to flesh themselves out, so you know who will be good this year. Hey, we even have the NHL back again! Oh, and the longest season in sports, NASCAR, is winding down.
Fall's a good time for a sports lover to be alive.
